Cora Berchem

Hi, I'm Cora!

I was born and raised in Germany, but moved to the United States after High School. I have a BA in Communication Studies from the College of NJ, and an MA in Theater-, Film- and Media Studies and American Studies from J.W. Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany.

I completed my first documentary while still in college. My second documentary about 'Black Friday' premiered in NYC in November 2011.

I worked in the camera department for film & television until I discovered my passion for manatees and I am now working in manatee conservation in Florida.

Torrell Vinson

Hi, my name is Torrell. I'm a freelance camera operator for film and television. I attended the University of Maryland and received a BA in Criminal justice. Despite my Criminal Justice Degree, I have been working in film and television for many years and I'm always looking for new challenges and opportunities to enhance my skills.

Why do we want to make this documentary?

We first came across manatees in December 2011, when we took a trip down to Miami, FL for work. Since then we did a lot of research and got more and more concerned about the situation of manatees today. We then decided to join the Save the Manatee organization and adopt Merlin, a Florida Manatee.

Since we both work in the film and television industry, we decided to combine our talents and skills to make this non-for-profit documentary, because we strongly believe more people should be made aware of this endangered species
